Take command of your voice, overcome anxiety, and own any room.
There are many reasons your voice may be keeping you from meeting your professional and personal goals.
- There might be technical concerns to address – perhaps you’ve been told you’re too monotone, or too loud or quiet, or you rush when you speak.
- Or maybe the issues are less technical and more subjective – you’ve been told you need to improve your communication skills or your presence, or need to be more confident.
- Perhaps your concerns aren’t even coming from without, but within – you wish you were more confident giving presentations or leading meetings, or that you could be a more compelling speaker who commands attention.
No matter what specific need brings you my way, I’ll begin by learning both your voice and your goals. We’ll identify together the areas where your voice and/or speech are getting in the way of those goals.
I’ll teach you basic adjustments and skills customized to your unique needs and tailored to your learning style. We’ll build a foundation together exercising these skills to break old habits and develop new ones.
Finally, we’ll apply the work we do to the places you’ll use it in real life: your business presentations and pitches, classroom lessons, scripts and monologues, sermons, closing arguments. We’ll fine-tune these new skills and make sure they don’t get erased by old patterns when you get into familiar settings.
I believe we are all born with voices that are beautiful, expressive, and free.

What people say about my Voice & Presence Coaching…
Kate was absolutely instrumental in helping me overcome an array of obstacles that were standing in the way of my becoming a yoga teacher after retiring from a career as a lawyer. She gave me advice and exercises that allowed me to overcome chronic hoarseness, incorrect use of my breath, vocal folds that couldn’t join and made my speech breathy, poor vocal resonance, sloppy diction, failure to maintain eye contact, and serious stage fright. I cannot say enough about the breadth and depth of Kate’s knowledge and her ability to convey it.

Retired trial lawyer and certified Iyengar yoga instructorI came to Kate because my speaking voice sounded very cartoonish. I felt I wasn’t making an accurate first impression both professionally and in my dating life. Kate was able to help me develop my voice in a way that is professional and clear without sounding fake or taking away my personality. Kate keeps coaching sessions upbeat and fun which made it easy to keep up with the program. An unexpected side benefit is now that I’m speaking more efficiently, I can project my voice effortlessly during presentations.

Systems EngineerAfter spending years working in Chicago’s small storefront theaters, I was cast in a role in an 800-seat theater. In preparation to perform in this space, I worked with Kate and she helped me to use my voice in a healthy, relaxed, and focused way which allowed me to perform eight shows a week without the strain and hoarseness that was my norm prior to working with her. Her voice coaching felt wise, specific for my needs, and was helpful from the first session on.

ActorMy time with Kate in voice coaching has been restorative for both my body and soul. Her integrative style, expansive knowledge, and smart exercises have definitely exceeded the two voice therapists I have had previously.
